About Hannah:
My name's Hannah Deards, but you might know me as Bishmuth or Bish online. I'm a background artist and illustrator - I work in animation, games and comics.
My current special interest in my free time is creating intricate background assets for visual novels, but professionally (as of July 2025) I'm working as a background designer at Princess Bento.
Outside of art, my hobbies include going out in nature, tasting and collecting different Chinese (amongst other countries') teas while practicing gong fu cha, listening to niche music, reading/playing visual novels and gaming.
I'm currently located in Sydney, Australia and I'm open to in person, remote and freelance opportunities from January 1st 2026 and onwards.
I am a fast learner, strong team-worker and creative problem solver. I'm always looking to improve my skills and learn from the wisdom and knowledge of others. If that sounds like the kind of person you'd like to worth with...
I'd love to work on a project with you! <3
About My Work:
I enjoy depicting the mundanity and often unpleasant reality of day to day life. The clutter, the dusty side tables and the smudged windows. The things one might choose to leave out of a photo being posted on social media. The things that we all deal with every day, but would be embarrassed to admit to publicly. I think there's a humor and odd beauty in facing that sort of honest, gritty reality; choosing to acknowledge it for all of its flaws; and depicting it meticulously in an illustration. The content might make you mildly uncomfortable, but you can relate to it in one way or another, can't you? I think the true messiness of real life is one of the few things that most people have in common.
I'd describe the aesthetic of my work as a marriage between the textured, unpredictable, imperfect nature of traditional artwork and the precise, efficient, adjustable nature of digital artwork.
